Day 7:

Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my  name, he will give it to you. Until now you have asked nothing  in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.  (John 16:23-24)

It’s easy to pray to God in a moment of desperation or to casually tell  someone that you’re praying for them. But is that how our prayer life  should be? God loves us, and he listens to every one of our prayers. But  because he loves us and wants what’s best for us, he instructs us on how  to pray.

Prayers to God in Jesus’ name are powerful because before we ask God  for something, and we listen to what he wants for us. We understand  that his good plan is better than anything we could imagine on our own.  It means we’re asking God to fulfill his plan—even if it isn’t the same  as ours.

So, the next time you pray, do so with confidence that God will honor  prayers offered in Jesus’ name!

Prayer: Father, may my daily prayers be focused on your good plan  and not my own selfish desires. Thank you for the confidence I can have  when I pray in Jesus’ name!
